Chairman of the Angel Group of Companies, Dr Kwaku Oteng has been awarded by the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI) for his role in championing the development of herbal medicine in the country.
The astute businessman was awarded for his distinguished work in helping boost the status of herbal products produced in Ghana in the eyes of Ghanaians.
He was presented with a citation commending him for spearheading the development of Angel Herbal products and Adonko Bitters which have served as a catalyst for the development of herbal products in the country.
“Angel Soap and Angel Cream are known by virtually every Ghanaian as a good product for various skin conditions albeit manufactured in Ghana and by a Ghanaian. The market success of these products helped to consolidate the belief in the efficacy of locally manufactured herbal medicines and medicinal products, hence, opening up a whole new and vibrant market and business opportunities in the area of herbal medicine in Ghana.
“If today, our media landscape is filled with the advertisement of locally manufactured herbal products, it can be attributed to the work you started almost two decades ago when you introduced unto the Ghanaian market Angel Herbal Products…,” the citation presented to Dr Oteng at the 3rd edition of the GNCCI Chamber Business Awards read in part.
Prior to the awards held at the Accra International Conference Centre on the 23rd November 2019, the chamber toured the Adonko Bitters’ factory at Abouhia in Kumasi and later honoured Dr Kwaku Oteng at his office.
The Chamber also recognized Dr Kwaku Oteng’s successes in the Transport and Media Broadcasting sectors of the economy.
“Through these companies, you have employed hundreds of Ghanaians and contributed massively towards the growth of the economy. Your prowess as an Entrepreneur and Businessman is evidenced in the success of the various businesses you have established.
The event which was held under the theme: “Digitising the Ghanaian Economy for Competitive Edge in Globalised Markets,” was attended by captains of industry, members of the Council of State, ministers of State, members of Parliament, development partners and the Diplomatic Community.
An Honorary Membership of the chamber was conferred on the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia who was present at the event for their contribution to the development of the private sector.
“For being a bright light for Ghanaian Entrepreneurs, and for being a good example of what we are capable of as Ghanaian Businessmen and Women, the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry presents to you, Dr Kwaku Oteng, this citation of honour,” the citation concluded.
